The MP1590B Network Tester is a state-of-the art measuring instrument for high-speed transmission technologies like SDH, OTN or EoS as well as Ethernet/IP and Jitter.
The EoS module supports GFP-F, LEX, LAPS (X.86), PPP, CiscoHDLC, and MAPOS encapsulation methods. With more than 120 types of real-time error/alarm counters and a 256 MB frame capture analysis function, it is possible to verify EoS frames in detail. Moreover, it supports detailed testing of LCAS and high/low order virtual concatenation.
In addition, the MP1590B can conduct a number of differential delay measurements with a high degree of accuracy. The delay generator has a delay range of 0 to 512ms with independent delay control for each channel. A delay monitor extends to 256 ms. The MP1590B can re-assemble the payload so that delay and payload measurements can be performed simultaneously.
By using the existing multi-port 10M/100M, 1G and 10G Ethernet modules of Anritsu´s MD1230 Family, the MP1590B turns into a dedicated Ethernet/IP tester. Available functions include RFC2544, BER, Protocol Emulation and QoS. As the Ethernet modules can be used simultaneously with other modules like SDH/SONET or EoS, it allows detailed trouble-shooting from Layer 1 to Layer 4.
The MP1590B supports setting/monitoring of all overheads for OTU-1 (2.66Gbit/s) and OTU-2 (10.71Gbit/s) conforming to ITU-T G.709. A random error insertion function enables real performance evaluation of the OTN FEC function. Adjustable optical output allows a single MP1590B to test the error correction ratio of OTN equipment based on its input power specification.
PDH/SDH and DSn/SONET testing
The MP1590B covers all the bitrates between 1,5Mbit/s and 10Gbit/s. Switchover between PDH/SDH and DSn/SONET can be controlled on the screen. Transmission/reception with a Tandem Connection pattern (ITU-T Rec. G.707) is possible, and functions for setting and monitoring the section overhead (SOH/TOH) and path overhead (POH) have been implemented. Moreover, various error/alarm generation functions enable stress testing of transmission equipment.
Jitter tolerance/transfer characteristic measurements conforming to ITU-T Rec. G.783, G.825, G.8251 and Telcordia GR-253 can be done on SDH/SONET (52 to 9953Mbit/s), OTU-1 (2.66Gbit/s) as well as OTU-2 (10.71Gbit/s). Furthermore it also supports a 10.3 GHz clock jitter generation/measurement function to allow jitter performance evaluation of 10Gbit Ethernet devices. Furthermore the MP1590B allows jitter testing of 10G XFP modules. With the differential I/O feature, the MP1590B provides more accurate results than existing solutions that perform single-ended electrical analysis or that verify optical performance.
The MP1590B comes with an excellent Graphical User Interface (GUI) based on Windows XP®, a range of convenient interfaces, all in one light-weight box of only 15kg.
Additional MP1590 family models
Suiting the requirements of emerging 40G/43Gbit/s networks, the MP1595A takes the capabilities of the MP1590B even further, enhancing them with STM-256 (40Gbit/s SDH) and OUT-3 (43Gbit/s OTN) datarates. Thus the MP1595A is capable to combine testing capabilities from 1.5Mbit/s up to 43Gbit/s in a single unit. Similar as the MP1590B, the MP1595A features a Windows XP® based Graphical User Interface.
Combining the MP1595A SDH Analyzer with the MP1797A Jitter Analyzer, Jitter Tolerance and Jitter Transfer of 40/43Gbit/s systems can be analyzed as well.
The MP1591A is a rack based multi slot solution, offering more than double slot capacity compared to the MP1590B. It can be equipped with any available module out of the MP1590B SDH Analyzer (not including the MP1595A 40/43Gbit/s modules) and also the MD1230 IP/Ethernet Analyzer Family. (More about the MD1230 IP/Ethernet Analyzer Family.) In difference to the MP1590B/MP1595A, the MP1591A is not offering a display, but is controlled via software running on an external PC.
